With the clocks now turned back and the nights drawing in, families across the UK will be turning their thoughts to Christmas and hopefully start shopping in earnest for the festive season. According to data AI company Peak, £21 billion isChristmas & Gift expected to be spent on Christmas gifts for friends and loved ones this year. The company also estimates that 10 million turkeys will be consumed in the UK - the packaging of which weighs the same as 30 blue whales! In its blog, Peak also highlights that while some of us love Brussels sprouts, the majority only eats them at Christmas. In fact, 25% of the UK's entire sprouts sales come in the two weeks prior to 25th December. And - apparently the clocks are now ticking as most people start their Christmas shopping on 13th December. According to DHL this is the busiest day for Christmas shopping with orders up by 99%.
