Growing Christmas trends
As a child in the 70s, the excitement of Christmas was very much concentrated around the 24th and 25th December as we popped a mince pie and a glass of sherry by the fireplace, 
eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa to fill our stockings with a tangerine, chocolate coins and perhaps a novelty or two.
The picture book 'The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition' written by Carol Aebersold in 2005 has always been popular, but in the last decade appears to have literally taken the world by storm. According to social media, Children have been unable to sleep with the excitement of Elf's arrival on 1st December and 24 days of chaos until Santa comes to the rescue on Christmas Eve.
